Pantidy LLC (“Pantidy,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you:

  • Visit our website (pantidy.com), hosted on WordPress
  • Use the Pantidy mobile application (the “Service”)

1. Information We Collect

A. Website Information (WordPress Site)

When you visit our website, certain information may be automatically collected, including:

  • IP address
  • Browser type
  • Device information
  • Pages visited
  • Referring URL

This information may be collected by:

  • Our website hosting provider
  • WordPress core functionality
  • Security or spam detection services

Comments

If you leave comments on the site, we may collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • IP address
  • Browser user agent

Comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

If Gravatar is enabled, an anonymized hash of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/.

B. Cookies (Website)

Our WordPress site may use cookies to:

  • Enable login functionality
  • Save comment information
  • Manage session authentication
  • Improve site functionality

Examples may include:

  • Temporary login cookies
  • Comment convenience cookies
  • Screen display preference cookies

You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though certain features may not function properly.

C. Embedded Content

Articles on this site may include embedded content (such as videos or images). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the third-party website directly and may collect data according to that third party’s privacy policy.

D. Account Information (Mobile App)

When you sign in using Google or Apple, we may receive:

  • Name (if provided)
  • Email address
  • Account identifier

Location Data

Pantidy may collect approximate location information (such as postal code) if voluntarily provided by the user.

This information is used to improve pricing accuracy and contextual data.

Location information:

  • Is optional and user-controlled
  • Is not used for precise tracking
  • Is not used to identify users

Users may disable location-related features within the app.

E. Pantry & User-Provided Data (Mobile App)

You may enter pantry items and related content into the app.

This data is primarily stored locally on your device and may also be synchronized to cloud storage (Firebase Firestore) for backup, synchronization across devices, and service functionality.

Cloud-stored data is transmitted to and stored on infrastructure operated by Google (Firebase). Google processes this data as a service provider in accordance with its own privacy and security practices.

Camera & Image Processing

Pantidy may access your device camera for barcode scanning and receipt processing.

  • Barcode scanning is processed on-device and is not transmitted
  • Receipt images may be temporarily transmitted to third-party services (such as Google Cloud Vision API) for text extraction
  • Images are not stored by Pantidy after processing

Extracted data may be stored as part of your pantry or pricing records.

Cloud Storage & Sync

Pantidy stores certain user data locally on your device and synchronizes select data to cloud storage using Firebase Firestore.

Cloud-synchronized data may include pantry items, quantities, expiration data, pricing information, and related metadata.

Pantidy does not currently delete inactive user data automatically. Data may be retained indefinitely unless a user deletes their account or requests deletion.

Guest Mode

Pantidy supports a guest mode using anonymous authentication.

  • Guest users are not required to provide personal information
  • Data created in guest mode is stored locally on the device only
  • Guest data is not backed up to cloud storage
  • Deleting the app will permanently remove guest data

Users may choose to upgrade from guest mode to a full account. Data will not carry over from guest mode to a full account.

Data Processing & Item Enrichment

Pantidy may process and update certain pantry item data to improve the accuracy, consistency, and functionality of the Service.

This may include:

  • Enhancing or normalizing product information (such as names, categories, or nutritional data)
  • Updating or improving barcode-matched product data using approved data sources
  • Synchronizing and reconciling data between local device storage and cloud storage (Firebase Firestore)
  • Improving the quality of pricing, product, or recipe-related information over time

These updates are performed to ensure the Service functions correctly and may occur automatically in the background.

Pantidy does not modify user intent-based inputs (such as quantities, notes, or manually entered preferences) except where necessary for technical correctness, data consistency, or system functionality.

Data enrichment is performed using internal systems and trusted third-party services where applicable, as described in this Privacy Policy.

E.1 Imported Recipe Content

The Service allows users to import recipe information from third-party sources, including websites and social media platforms.

When you use this feature:

  • You may provide a URL or content from a third-party platform (e.g., social media video links)
  • Content may be processed to extract recipe-related information
  • For social media imports, audio and video content may be transcribed using third-party services
  • Transcriptions may be processed using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to structure recipe data
  • Extracted content is stored locally on your device unless otherwise stated

Pantidy uses third-party services to enable this functionality, including:

  • SupaData (for transcription of media content)
  • OpenAI (ChatGPT) for parsing and structuring recipe data

By using this feature, you understand and agree that:

  • Content you provide may be transmitted to these third-party services for processing
  • Transcriptions and AI-generated outputs may not be perfectly accurate
  • Pantidy does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of extracted recipes

Additional terms:

  • Pantidy does not claim ownership of imported recipe content
  • Pantidy does not host, publish, or publicly redistribute full third-party content
  • When users share a recipe through the Service, only the original source URL is shared

Imported content remains subject to the intellectual property rights and terms of the original publisher.

Pantidy does not control and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or policies of third-party platforms or websites.

F. Subscription & Purchase Information

Pantidy operates as a subscription-only service.

  • Payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  • Subscription validation and entitlement management are handled by RevenueCat

RevenueCat may process:

  • Subscription status
  • Transaction identifiers
  • App instance identifiers

Pantidy does not store full payment card information.

G. Food & Barcode Data Sources

Pantidy may use third-party data sources to provide food, nutrition, and product information.

Barcode Lookup (Open Food Facts)

Pantidy is in the process of discontinuing the use of Open Food Facts data. Legacy data may still exist temporarily for some users and is being actively removed or replaced.

When you scan a barcode in the app:

  • The barcode number may be transmitted to Open Food Facts to retrieve product information
  • Pantidy does not combine barcode lookup requests with user profile data when communicating with Open Food Facts
  • Requests may include a standard application identifier (User-Agent)

Product data retrieved from Open Food Facts is publicly available and licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL).

Pantidy does not control:

  • The accuracy of product data
  • How Open Food Facts stores transmitted data
  • Updates to the Open Food Facts database

Food & Nutrition Data (USDA FoodData Central)

Pantidy may also retrieve food and nutrition information from the USDA FoodData Central API.

When using this feature:

  • Queries for food data may be sent to the FoodData Central service
  • Requests may include general query terms (e.g., food names)
  • No direct personal identifiers are intentionally transmitted in these requests

FoodData Central data is provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is subject to its own terms and data policies.

Pantidy does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of third-party food or nutrition data.

Price Data

Pantidy allows users to input and track product pricing information.

  • Pricing data may be user-entered or inferred from receipt scanning
  • Historical pricing data may be stored
  • Pricing accuracy is not guaranteed and may vary by store, location, and time

Pantidy does not provide financial, pricing, or purchasing advice.

H. Analytics & Performance Data

We use Firebase services for analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring.

This may include:

  • Device type and operating system
  • App usage patterns and events
  • Crash logs and diagnostic data

Analytics data may be associated with identifiers such as an account ID or device ID.

Users currently cannot opt out of analytics collection within the app, though they may be able to limit certain data collection through their device settings.

This data is used solely to improve app functionality and is not used for advertising or sold to third parties.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Operate and maintain the website
  • Provide subscription access
  • Validate subscription status
  • Improve app performance
  • Respond to support requests
  • Maintain website security

We do not sell personal information.

Certain features of the Service require data processing to function properly, including cloud synchronization of user data for backup and cross-device access. Users who do not wish to have their data processed in this way should not create an account or use features that require these services.

3. Data Retention

Website comments may be retained indefinitely.

Pantidy retains user data as long as necessary to provide the Service.

For cloud-synchronized data, Pantidy does not currently delete inactive user accounts automatically. Data may be retained indefinitely unless the user deletes their account or requests deletion.

Users may delete their data directly within the app or by contacting us at [email protected]. Some data may persist temporarily in backups or logs.

4. Data Security

We implement reasonable safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

5. Children’s Privacy

Pantidy is intended for general audiences.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.

6. Your Rights

You may:

  • Request access to personal data we hold
  • To request access or deletion of your personal data, contact [email protected]. We will process verified requests within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Cancel your subscription through your app store
  • Disable cookies in your browser

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the website or Service constitutes acceptance of updates.
